Saint Anthony the Great

Saint Anthony the Great is the legendary founder of eremitic monasticism and the "Father of the Desert." His image serves as a standard of Christian asceticism, a symbol of victory over temptation, and of unwavering faithfulness to God. Venerable Anthony is considered a special intercessor in the struggle against spiritual passions, fears, and harmful habits. His life is an example of how a person can transform their nature through labor and prayer. The icon of Anthony the Great is often chosen as a gift for men who bear this name (a patron saint icon), as well as for home iconostases as an image that strengthens faith and helps to find inner peace during difficult periods of life.
